It’s been five years and Panda are returning to Kino Šiška. They will be celebrating their 30th anniversary by bringing the album Stoletni ples to the Katedrala stage, combining various phases of their career, as well as various music styles and guests.
Currently the hottest new product by Panda is their single “Noro”, employed by the band to communicate how crazy it is to have been around for 30 years, and how crazy for members of the band to have preserved their upright stance and singularity despite numerous changes, and how crazy to plan more touring.
Undoubtedly, Panda’s speciality is the number of female singers who collaborated with them. It wasn’t their original plan to change their female vocalists so often, but it was obviously meant to be. This is how the band endured until now, acquired its character and extreme durability. Frontwomen to have lined up in these 30 years were Suzana Jeklic, Suzana Werbole, Katja Obleščak, Saša Danilov, and Sara Petrovčič, the current singer being Nina Bauman. And all of them have left an indelible mark on the band’s music.
The upcoming Panda’s concert will surely be a feast for the eyes and ears. Appearing on stage as guests will be all the band’s singers, as well as Primož Fleischman on sax, a top Slovenian saxophonist whose originality and endless inspiration never fail to impress the audience. There will also be a surprise appearance by the band Male malice with their a cappella performance of the track Lino.
For this occasion, Panda have prepared a special unplugged medley of their hits. They are also using the concert to release their 10th project, the album Stoletni ples. The opening address will be given by Andrej Karoli, and the gig will be recorded by the radio station Val 202.
Panda really never run out of inspiration. All the band’s members find music too noble to taint it with average efforts, and too timeless to shorten its life span artificially.
