In November, the Artist per Month exhibition series will feature young artist Eva Juričan, who will present her experiments with various techniques and bases. In her recent artwork, she draws inspiration primarily from the California skate punk scene of the 1990s, bright neon colours and the connection between image and text. With her pieces, she does not want to burden the viewer, but rather immerse them in a kind of fun nostalgia.
Eva Juričan is a postgraduate student of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. In 2015 she participated in the Erasmus study exchange in Tallinn, Estonia. After returning home, she displayed her work for the first time, at a group exhibition in the Celica hostel at Metelkova in Ljubljana. She graduated the same year, with her thesis titled “Street art from the street to the canvass”. Thematically she adheres to more relaxed topics, most often finding inspiration in alternative music and the related subculture. Spontaneity and relaxedness are important elements of her work. She explores and combines various structures that emerge with different canvas techniques in large formats, utilizing sprays and stickers, in addition to acrylic paint. Besides painting, she is also interested in illustration, photography and design. She is currently a member of the DIY Cool Kids Booking collective, where she designs concert posters, badges, stickers and other promotional material.
Organisation: Kino Šiška and DobraVaga.
