P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute in cooperation with Kino Šiška announces Blind Date Convention – 4th International Festival of Artist’s Books and Art Publications, to be held in Ljubljana on 19 and 20 May 2016. This is the central national event exploring artist’s books, art periodicals, zines and art editions. The festival presents several dozen artists, institutions, self-publishers, and independent producers.
This year, the festival will again be taking place at three locations: P74 Gallery, Kapsula Gallery and Kino Šiška. The programme will be composed of exhibitions, presentations, discussions, presentations of newly published editions and books as well as concerts.
PROGRAMME:
Thursday 19 May 2016 at 6 pm, P74 Gallery / KAPSULA Gallery
We will be launching the festival in P74 Gallery with official openings of three separate exhibitions. All of them will be on view until 9 June 2016.
Slightly late, the exhibition This Is No Book celebrates an exceptional jubilee – the 50th anniversary of the first artist’s book in Slovenia. It is dedicated to the first artist’s book entitled KNJIGA, which was designed in 1965 by Marko Pogačnik. The exhibition ZINEZINE brings a selection of the most current local zine production made in the past five years. The selection will have been made in cooperation with the publisher Look Back and Laugh. The exhibition 26 Levels of Erection presents a selection of artist’s books newly acquired by the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute. Devised in 2004, the selection now contains around 500 artist’s books, publications and newspapers made by contemporary artists.
