In Vegova ulica Street Gallery, a younger generation mixed-media artist Nez Pez will be presenting her city-related visual imaginarium to the passers-by within the new open-air exhibition series By the Way, a collaboration between the company TAM-TAM and Kino Šiška.
Her signature mark is experimentation with various techniques and her own visual expression, which has led her to use a variety of visual media. In her work developed for the Street Gallery, she has intertwined photographs, scans, and computer-processed motifs, and complemented with hand-drawn, even live-drawn elements. She was drawing on the specifics of the actual spatial location, as well as letting the creative process and intuition have it their way. She used the exhibition space available not only as the surface to present her own creations, but also as a component part and starting point of her work. Says the author: “The city and its streets already possess the elements that I use to manipulate in my work. I react to the space that surrounds me and adapt to it. Introspection of the street as the space of own creative production is the starting point of my work.” This way, Nez Pez explores public space as the setting where her intimate world is born and its fragments registered, but she lets the passing-by observer have the freedom of own interpretation.
Neža Jurman aka Nez Pez (1985) studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. In 2010 she received a University of Ljubljana Prešeren Award and an ALOU Award for special achievements in art. She is interested in diverse media and art genres, which is why the materials and approaches used in her work vary with each project she makes. She is working with sculpture, installations, sound and video art, drawing, graphic arts, illustration, street art and scenery design. Her works have been shown in several solo and group exhibitions. She lives and works in Ljubljana.
Her works will be on display in the TAM-TAM Street Gallery until Monday 18 April 2016.
