With his exhibition, set up as scenery, intermedia artist Dan Adlešič reminds the viewer they are still homo ludens (the playing man). Combining the principles of theatre, design and technology, he unveils and encourages the melding of fiction and everyday reality, when the pleasure of playing exercises our mind and senses towards new perspectives and solutions or merely clever nonsense.
After two failed attempts to pass the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television entry exams, Dan Adlešič (1990) enrolled in Unique Design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. During his studies, he received the ESSL Art Award, studied abroad in Sweden and joined LJUDMILA. After graduating, he enrolled in the Contextual Design M.A. program at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he concluded his studies with the “Electricity is just like.. WOAH!” project, which merged design, performance, video, science, poetry and humour. In December 2015, he shared his principles of design in China via workshops and an exhibition at studio Makkink&Bey, and his products were displayed at the Rossana Orlandi Gallery during this year’s Milan Design Week. Some of his work is currently exhibited at the Design Museum Helsinki, together with twenty other acclaimed designers who work in the cross-section of art and design, conceptual design and one off production. Despite having nearly 40 group exhibitions in over ten countries on his CV, this is his first solo one.
