The group show Different Worlds – Young Contemporary Photography displays works of eleven young and emerging photographers who live and work in the states of Western Balkans (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia) or who come from these states and live and work abroad and who have been selected through the open call organised by Photon. The exhibition thus presents their recent works and thereby provides an insight into latest tendencies of contemporary photography. Young Contemporary Photography is thus an initiative that encourages, evaluates and promotes developments of young, non-yet-established, and emerging generations of artists and photographers, up to 35 years of age.
The exhibition is divided between two adjacent venues: Kino Šiška and Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography. Works of three award-winning artists will be displayed at Photon whereas works of remaining eight shortlisted photographers will be exhibited in Kamera (Kino Šiška). The artists have been selected by international jury: Miha Colner (Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography, Ljubljana), Susanne Gamauf (Fotogalerie Wien, Vienna) and Gabriella Uhl (freelance curator, Budapest). Both venues will host various events during the exhibition, and the opening reception, where winners will be awarded non-cash prizes, will take place in Kino Šiška.
The open call is sponsored by Studio Okvir.
