Kud Channel Zero & Dirty Skunks Present: 25 years of Enslaved at Kino Šiška!
The coming autumn will be cold yet fiery, as on October 24th Enslaved will make their way from Norway to Slovenia again, this time to Kino Šiška.
The Norwegian band Enslaved is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Over the past quarter of a century, they spread the lore of Viking-tinged black metal, then ventured beyond the boundaries of this extreme genre to eventually become the embodiment of extreme metal as such, a genre which knows so many shapes and faces that it is pointless to categorise further. In this regard, Enslaved is a band for fans of both Bathory or Thyrfing and Dissection or At The Gates, with fans of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, etc. pricking up their ears as well. In recent years, Enslaved surpassed all expectations, with their concerts (not to mention their albums!) becoming an event you should see at least once in your lifetime. The performances not only include songs from all of their albums, of which Enslaved have released quite a few over the past 25 years, but also a show that brings to mind a more extreme, though slightly less grandiose version of a Pink Floyd performance.
Returning to Slovenia alongside Enslaved are Australian prog metallers Ne Obliviscaris, who left a deep mark in our hearts when they played at the Metaldays festival last year. The band goes beyond the limits of extreme genres, offering both great music, which is influenced by death, black, thrash and melodic metal, classical music, jazz, avant-garde and flamenco, and an excellent, if seemingly calm stage performance, proving the saying that still waters run deep.
In addition to Ne Obliviscaris, Enslaved will be accompanied by Oceans of Slumber, American prog metallers that just signed to Century Media. The young band won listeners over with its Blue EP of Led Zeppelin, Emperor and Pink Floyd covers, with the band’s sound hinting at Watchtower, King’s X, Mars Volta, Trail Of Dead, as well as legends such as Big Mama Thornton and her disciple, Janis Joplin.
Let’s just say this – if you don’t make it to Kino Šiška on 24th October, you will miss an event that will be spoken of for years to come.
