During his studies the Ecuadorian dancer-choreographer Fabian Barba became fascinated by the work of Mary Wigman. Her expressionist dance recitals made her one of the pioneers of Modern dance. Wigman changed the dance landscape in Europe and the United States forever, and to this day she remains an influence on the artistic scene in Ecuador. In this performance, Barba quotes from a wide selection of Wigman’s work, developing a tension between his reconstruction and her originals.
Fabian Barba was born in Ecuador and moved to Brussels to study at P.A.R.T.S. He works as a dancer, creates his own works and is part of the dance collective Busy Rocks.
