The majority of Slovenian musicians are left to their own devices: learning from their own mistakes again and again, strengthening their network of connections for years, never ceasing to notice the lack of support mechanisms. This year, FundaMENT will seek to further develop the existing forces as well as educate new ones. A series of lectures and workshops featuring international and Slovenian music professionals will be dedicated to forming teams that will be working in the field while acquiring new skills on the fly.
FundaMENT is seeking people interested in the music business – from management to booking and public relations. We will try to connect newcomers with musicians and their existing infrastructure, to join forces in developing the musician’s career or tackling a project. Teams will be working on the musician’s development for a year, and maybe also on some other projects. The future is in their hands, however, they will also be supported by lecturers sharing their know-how.
Lecturers comprise MENT festival and conference as well as SIGIC organisation staff, joined by Hannes Tschürtz (CEO of Austrian agency INK music, long-time agent, publisher, promoter and lecturer at Vienna school of music management), Login Kočinski (CEO of Macedoniam agency Password Production, manager of the band Dubioza kolektiv, having extensive experience in the European music business, also managing the tours of Manu Chao) and Sanjin Đukić (public relations officer in the Zagreb-based agency LAA, whose roster includes Josipo Lisac, Jonathan, Lovely Quinces, Punčke, etc., working with various regional festivals, also having experience from various labels and MTV).
The FundaMENT programme begins in October (the first scheduled days are 8, 12, 13, 20 and 21 October, always at 6 pm in SIGIC premises). Everybody interested please apply to info@sigic.si by submitting your short bio (attendance is limited, please apply by 21 September). The fee is EUR 40 for members of SIGIC*, and EUR 60 for others, and it includes the delegate ticket for MENT Ljubljana, which is taking place between 3 and 5 February 2016.
