The international conference REPETITION/S: Performance and Philosophy in Ljubljana (September 21st – 24th) is one of the largest philosophical conferences ever held in Slovenia. It is a gathering of more than 120 top philosophers, theorists of theatre and performers from around the world. Many participants come from Australia, USA and Asia, and a good local attendance is expected as well. One of the major reasons for the great impact are star invited lecturers like Mladen Dolar, Alenka Zupančič, Bojana Kunst, Keti Chukhrov, Samo Tomšič, Oxana Timofeeva, Andrew Benjamin, Freddie Rokem, Justin Clemens and many others.
The central topic of performances and lectures is one of the defining concepts of contemporary philosophy – the question of repetition. On the one hand, it is related to the current political and economic challenges and the questions raised by new technologies, and on the other hand to the theory of performance, film and theory of art.
Visitors and participants should register for the conference through http://www.repetitions2016.org/register. For visitors based in SLovenia, no registration fee will be charged.
Held by: City Museum of Ljubljana, University of Ljubljana – Faculty of Arts, Aufhebung Association.
Partners: Performance Philosophy, University Paris-Sorbonne (VALE, PRITEPS), Kino Šiška, Museum of Modern Art, Kud Pozitiv, DIC, ZRC SAZU, Monash University, Dance Theatre Ljubljana, Radio Študent, Municipality of Ljubljana, Ljubljana – the Green Capital, Berlin Senate Cultural Affairs.
