YOUNG ARTIST SERIES
In November, student of graphic design Jure Brglez is presenting his work under the title ¿Ay qué horror?
The contents of his expressive illustrations are inspired by the horror of everyday life, and his visual elements are drawn from end 20th century B-production horror films. He feels a strong affection towards horror as a genre, believing it to be an excellent platform for creativity: it is an environment allowing extreme absurdities. Through his fascination with the dreamlike, supernatural, frequently unexplainable – with the worlds that are traversed by the impossible, the author is exploring the boundaries of imagination and of his visual expression.
The exhibition ¿Ay qué horror? will comprise works showing obvious references to classic horror films based on the stations, positions and relations in the life of everyman that anyone can identify with. In a humorous way, the author seeks to depict the meeting of two worlds that at first sight seem incompatible. Using the aesthetics of a gruesome introduction into the dialogue with saturation, confusion, search and the will for survival, all so typical of the genre, yet also figuratively co-defining the time in which we move or are being moved. Ay!
