With his new project Marko Hatlak BAND, Marko Hatlak is striking out in directions of funk, pop, latino and jazz, thus finally making his longtime wish come true. Drawing his inspiration from the likes of Jamiroquai, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Michel Camilo, and Prince, as well as gentle ballads by rock giants, he translates it into spirited, entertaining, rhythmical, dancey and youthful music.
From the very beginning of his career on stage, accordionist Marko Hatlak has liked to succumb to diverse music genres – from studies-related classical and contemporary music to tango and ethno; and now his range is being expanded. In the project Marko Hatlak BAND he is showing his new image, performing both as accordionist and vocalist, as well as author of a number tunes.
The type that becomes a band, his new virtuoso music is distinctly rhythmical. Marko Hatlak has assembled excellent Slovenian musicians on drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, violin, trumpet and sax. In turn he is inspired by their work, virtuosity, the creative field they originate in and their positive charge. Chemistry among the musicians on stage is reflected in top renditions of celebrated songs of their music idols, as members of the band maintain a humorous and playful dialogue with their music. A special focus is on Hatlak’s alluring original songs. The band led by Marko Hatlak has managed to bring together the opposing poles of music energy – subtlety and volatility, which results in a relaxed club evening and entertaining concert atmosphere, where their music is brimming with energy.
