Nils Frahm is the initiator and main driving force behind the global Piano Day, which since last year has been celebrated on each 88th day of the year at chosen locations around the globe. Diverse programmes taking place on this day comprise concerts, installations, presentations, workshops and other activities celebrating this revered musical instrument, trying to bring it closer to new, younger audiences. Apart from Nils Frahm, the project has been supported with performances or otherwise by Olafur Arnalds, Chet Faker, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet), Emika and many others.
This years Kino Šiška is joining the project for the first time. The main part of our Piano Day event being Bowrain’s solo piano performance, it will be opened by Nace Slak, a student of the Ljubljana Conservatory, performing a series of Nils Frahm’s compositions.
Programme:
Nace Slak – performing compositions Ambre, Unter and Said And Done from Nils Frahm’s album Felt
Bowrain – solo piano performance of own compositions

BOWRAIN
“‘Far Out’ reminds of music by Thom York, Four Tet and Massive Attack. This is not just another debut,” wrote the Dutch webzine Festivalinfo on the work of composer, pianist and producer originating in Ljubljana, Tine Grgurevič, using the stage name Bowrain. This is no surprise, knowing that he began his creative path as a talented jazz composer who recorded his debut in Philadelphia and graduated in Amsterdam. However, jazz makes just for one aspect of his life. It is more than clear that he likes to experiment – e.g. in his performance “Duet with Slavoj Žižek”, a dialogue between his piano and a speech given by philosopher Slavoj Žižek.
In 2014, he began making music under the name Bowrain, representing his electronic experimental vision. And this is what is going to shine from his third album. Still in the making, “Distracted” will feature his collaboration with the Ljubljana-based guitarist and producer UM, and the Amsterdam-based drummer Robert Nitschke.
Organised by Kino Šiška and Kataman.
