During the Stripolisfest comic strip festival, French artist Delphine Vaute will lead a drawing workshop on the topic of children’s memories and storytelling in images. During the Stripolisfest comic strip festival, French artist Delphine Vaute will lead a drawing workshop on the topic of children’s memories and storytelling in images. Bring an object that reminds you of an experience, performance or feeling from your childhood; it will serve as inspiration for the development and shaping of a fictitious art story. The created artwork will be published as a zine.
The topic of the workshop is based on the picture book for adults Yvonne, l’enfant château, in which the author draws inspiration from childhood memories, blurs the line between the real and imaginary in her own visual language, and creates a mysterious ambiguous world, full of different meanings.
DELPHINE VAUTE (1978) is a French drawer and illustrator. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Angers, then continued her art history studies in Nantes, where she lives and works. Her work constantly shifts between the real and the imaginary, with her drawings appearing innocent at first glance, almost naïve, but characteristically building on details that capture one’s attention, revealing and evolving the image. Yvonne, l’enfant château is the first of her works to be translated into Slovenian. Before it was published in Slovenia by VigeVageKnjige a year after the original was released, Vaute published four independent works in French.
