Abortion – freedom of choice, round table
At the round table we will be learning about the rights that have already been acquired, i.e. the right to an abortion, as well as the rights that remain inaccessible to some women, i.e. the right to medically assisted reproduction programmes. What’s more, we will also be warning that we live at the time of a series of attempts to redomesticate women as various organisations and political parties have been seeking to interfere with the basic human rights. Such attempts to scrap certain human rights are far from innocent. On the contrary, they have to be given our full attention and prevented from growing stronger. According to Maca Jogan, “[N]o right acquired by the deprived gender is fixed, self-evident or given once and for all. To maintain the rights acquired demands constant alertness, as well as preservation of the historical memory of how they were acquired.” (Jogan, 2014)
