Impressions are artistic correspondence, a dialogue between visual artists Eva Mlinar and Hana Jesih. Using e-mail, they exchanged visual impressions representing their experiences and perceptions of the culture, society, community and diversity of the cities they lived in during that time (Hana in Ljubljana, Eva in Istanbul). The end result of the digital dialogue are collage illustrations of selected topics, bound together in a book.
Hana Jesih (1990) is concluding her M.A. studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana. She participated in study exchanges at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and graduated in 2013 with her book design for The Stranger, which also received an ALUO Award. She is active in the fields of graphic design, illustration and animation. Her M.A. work, the No Exit animation (2015), was included in the student competition of the 12th Animateka International Animated Film Festival.
Eva Mlinar (1985) graduated in Art History at the Faculty of Arts and in Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. She paints, designs and illustrates, and has been putting on solo exhibitions since 2008. She has also showcased her work in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad, including the V. Independent Biennial and the 12th Slovenian Biennial of Illustration. She enjoys working for the theatre the most: since 2011 she has been in charge of the visual image of publications by the Library of the Ljubljana City Theatre and has been designing posters for the New York theatre scene. Her illustrations can be found in the Tribuna, Outsider, Drome, Cacao Europa and Likovne besede magazines. She lives and works between Ljubljana and Istanbul.
