With the Traces exhibition, visual artist Tisa Neža Herlec presents two original zines and the idea and material context behind their creation. In the zine Élasticité, she collects lost hairbands as intimate objects found on the streets of Dijon. The second zine is a collection of her drawings, which she erases upon creation, leaving an illegible trace of the image on the paper. The projects explore the in-between areas of creating meaning and the sensibility towards the intangibleness of loss.
Tisa Neža Herlec (1996) is a student of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In the 2016/17 period, she studied at École nationale supérieure de Dijon in France. She experiments and explores a lot in her work, developing her own sensibility, with which she tries to sensitize others as well. She works with drawings, graphic prints, analogue photography and painting, and has recently been challenged by sound, performance and the sculpturality of the visual. She emphasises the process itself, which she finds to be essential. She follows it by writing a lot. She works at the Blue Corner in the Autonomous Rog Factory, where she co-organizes the Death to Authorship literary evenings and performs at the occasional performative evenings and jam sessions. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions: the exhibition during the FAK festival of alternative culture at Kino Udarnik in Maribor (2017), the appointMENT 2.0 group poster exhibition at DobraVaga (2018), the Humane Cities tender exhibition, organised by the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana (2017), the DSU – Decentralisation of Contemporary Art group exhibition at the Zelenica Gallery in the Rog Factory (2016), the large format painting exhibition at the Južna open-air gallery at the Rog Factory (2016), the HAIP park group exhibition at the Kapelica Gallery (2015). Her solo exhibitions have been displayed at 5faces at Théatre Mansart in Dijon (2017) and at Granulator at Žmauc in Ljubljana (2017). She receives a scholarship from the City of Ljubljana.
