One of the most important electronic artists of all time, the German master of bold techno, ambient music and IDM Apparat, also known as part of the popular Moderat, is coming to Šiška for the first time. He’ll perform as part of his first solo tour in six years.
Sascha Ring aka Apparat is regarded as one of the most important electronic artists of all time. Since his beginnings, when his hedonistic techno packed dancefloors in Berlin, he’s gradually moved his focus to “shaping sounds instead of beats” and shifted into more ambient circles. This was definitely a step in the right direction as the albums Berlinette (2003) and Orchestra of Bubbles (2006), both collaborations with German producer and singer Ellen Allien, are still regarded as classics of experimental techno and IDM – referential music platform Resident Advisor even declared the latter one of the best albums of the decade.
In addition to six solo releases, including the “album of the summer” Walls (Mladina, 2007), Apparat reached broader audiences as a member of the Moderat project alongside Modeselektor, which was voted the #1 Live Act Of The Year in 2009, as a guest of John Peel, and by contributing music to films and series such as Breaking Bad, Dark, Annihilation, Capri-Revolution … The common denominator of all his work is the exceptional elegance that goes beyond the dancefloor and provides a transcendental experience through nuanced details and beauty. After going on hiatus with Moderat, Apparat is heading on his first solo tour since 2013, including his first visit to Šiška. Save the date.
Ahead of Apparat, acclaimed Ljubljana post-pop group YGT, who warmed us up for Matter and Daphni last year, will present their second album Sinking Ship, released in February.
