With his refined blend of hip-hop, R&B, jazz, soul and funk elements, singer, rapper, producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Anderson .Paak quickly went from bedroom beginnings to working with famed producer and musician Dr. Dre, appearing on the latter’s comeback album Compton in 2015. He also collaborated with The Game, releasing his acclaimed second album Malibu in 2016. It ended up at the top of numerous end-of-the-year best-of lists and was nominated for a Grammy Award.
In the following years, .Paak collaborated with some of the biggest names in urban music in the world, such as Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Snoop Dogg, Pusha T etc., publishing two more excellent albums, Oxnard in 2018 and Ventura in April 2019. The latter has already received widespread critical acclaim. In February, .Paak also won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for his 2018 single “Bubblin”. Touring in support of the new album, .Paak and his band The Free Nationals will also pay a visit to Šiška for an intimate indoor concert.
Ahead of Anderson .Paak, we’ll turn the heat up with DJ Zeds, one of the first hip-hop deejays in Slovenia, who has been running the soul-R&B-hip-hop project Sladica for 20 years, in the past as a radio show and currently as a mixtape and party, and who is largely responsible for the popularity of such acts in Slovenia.
