Ljubljana-based rapper Skova will present his debut album Theatrum, “the best Slovenian rap album of the last decade” according to 24ur.com. To top it off, he’ll be accompanied on stage by his new live band Skovani for the first time.
Vasja Vipotnik – Skova is a rapper, lyricist, freestyler and poet who’s been involved in rap since his childhood. He first left his mark in 2016 at an a cappella rap battle that is today one of the most viewed Slovenian rap battles ever. After that, he recorded a rap compilation, organised charity concerts and led a creative writing workshop at a local youth centre – all actives in line with his musical expression, which finds inspiration for his socially critical lyrics in everyday life.
Towards the end of 2020, he first hit hard with his track “Rap Michelangelo”, declared Song of the Week by the Slovenian national radio, then followed up with his heavily anticipated debut Theatrum. On the album, he summed up the past five years of his life within a theatrical framework, to critical acclaim. The instrumentals on the album were provided by Slovene hiphop producers (Edich, Eleven Eleven, Beat by Dauc, Anže Petrač) and members of Moveknowledgement, and in Šiška he will be accompanied by Skovani, his new backing band of young musicians from diverse musical backgrounds (Kokosy, Kiwi Flash, …)..
Due to current public health regulations, the concert will take place only via direct payable stream on the Entrio platform, viewable on any smart device.
