As the trio Kačis, Ana Kravanja, Samo Kutin (both Širom, Olfamoštvo …) and Tea Vidmar will present their debut album, released on the same day as their visit to our summer terrace. Their individual musical creativity overlaps in the exploration of folk music and various forms of improvised music, as well as in the intertwining of the various musical genres they work and differ in.
Besides improvisation, Samo and Ana also compose imaginary folk music and explore the sonic characteristics of materials and instruments, while the duo of Ana and Tea have dedicated themselves to repetitive rhythmic singing, composed of simple voices, syllables and breathing noises, reminiscent of old folk traditions from around the world. The intertwining of their often similar voices creates the feeling of the presence of a “third voice”. The trio’s main interests lie in the transition of the modern sounds of free improvisation into the archaic character of melodies, voices and sounds of unknown origin. They began their creative process in 2020 during the Dvocikel residency at Layer House in Kranj.
Summer in Šiška is a series of free evening concerts, helping you chase away the social distancing blues. If the weather cooperates, we’ll cool off with a refreshing drink on the summer terrace of Café Kino Šiška, and if it looks to be raining, we’ll listen to good tunes in accordance with applicable public health regulations beneath the roof of our Komuna Hall.
