On Saturday, October 14, 2023, Kino Šiška will turn into a dance hall. The Saturday night fever will be intensified by the Violin Islands – Violins 70’s Disco Extravaganza concert, a real disco string spectacle in which the disco music of the 1970s is at the fore.
Disco music on strings or when “The Four Seasons” and “I Feel Love” meet
Violin Islands – Violin 70’s Disco Extravaganza is a hybrid between a concert, a dance evening and a musical performance. It was performed for the first and only time under the name ‘Violin Islands – Rhythms of Coexistence’ last year on the main square in Maribor in a production by and on the 30th anniversary of Narodni Dom Maribor as the bearer of European Capital of Culture heritage. Bojan Cvetrežnik, the author of the concept, together with DJ JAMirko, the band and Godalkarji, created a unique, atypical setup with no fewer than seven stages placed among the audience as musical islands for violins, and a main stage with a DJ and band. Visitors were thus offered a unique experience and the feeling of music from all sides.
At the heart of the Violin Islands – Violins 70’s Disco Extravaganza concert is an interesting musical combination – 1970s disco music and classical violin. Godalkarji, string players, accompanied by a DJ and a band, skilfully go from familiar mega hits of the disco era, such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”, “I Feel Love”, “Popcorn” and “Fly Robin Fly”, to Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, jazz improvisation or Balkan tunes. On Saturday, October 14, the first indoor performance of the musical spectacle will be held beneath a disco ball in Kino Šiška, with the design and layout similar to that of the first performance.

Violin Islands – Violins 70’s Disco Extravaganza was designed by Bojan Cvetrežnik, the conceptual father of Godalkanje, who also has all the threads of the show in his hands – he is the MC and conductor and at the same time one of Godalkarji. By his side is DJ JAMirko (beat&bass, audio production), while the Godalkanje Fiddle Gang, the Symbolic Orchestra, Hobi Godalkanje, students, pupils and teachers of music schools from all over Slovenia hold the violins, accompanied by a band composed of Nejc Škofic (keyboards), Mark Žakelj (guitar) and Damaris Potočnik and Hannah Mancini (vocals).
