During this lecture, we will shed light on the phenomenon of webtoons, a popular form of webcomics that have been taking over the world’s phone screens for the last ten years.
How did webtoons come about and how did they spread? How do online platforms collaborate with authors and how much money is involved? What are the narrative features of webtoons and how do authors master them? Which titles are popular and for whom are they intended? How do print comics withstand the influx of webtoons or do they bow to it?
The exciting modernity of webtoons will be presented by literary critic and comparativist Janez Grm.
