ZIMBRU

concert

Zimbru, one of the most promising young bands from Romania, are coming back to Šiška with a freshly released album and a new helping of their winning electro-acoustic fusion of electro pop and art rock.

FOR FANS OF: Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, MENT Ljubljana …

Zimbru, a quartet from the Romanian city of Cluj, blends untamed orchestral synths, angular riffs, and joyous percussion to forge a genuine connection with their audience in today’s increasingly fractured world. Their songs narrate tales of wild dances, missing pets, queer love, and nostalgic moments from the good old days that the members have only experienced second-hand.

The band emerged from the ashes of established Romanian band Lights Out in 2019 and immediately cemented their place on local airwaves with the single “Divination”. This paved their way to all major festivals there and attracted the attention of acclaimed international media such as the British NME.

They continued their success with their debut EP Little Creatures and performances at festivals such as MENT Ljubljana, EXIT and Sziget. In 2022, they won the HEMI Music Award in fierce competition, and a year later they wowed us again in Šiška. They’ll be back with us in October, just a few days after the release of their new album Rest Your Anger In My Lap.

We’ll warm up with Before Time, the winners of the seventh season of our Špil Liga competition. The band avoids prevailing genre conventions, represent a meaningful continuation of the new wave of Slovenian indie with their fresh, urban sound. They impressed us last year supporting Klinika Denisa Kataneca, and their full-fledged studio debut Omni navigates through funk, psychedelic rock, and punk, featuring melancholic guitars, expressive vocals, a dreamy atmosphere, and youthful energy.

Tickets on sale online and at Eventim outlets.

Organisation: Kino Šiška.
