Psychedelic prog rock legends Gong are coming to Šiška for the first time in their long and storied history! Born over half a century ago, the ever-shifting band has built up an expansive mythology with their bold mix of rock, jazz, psychedelia, and mysticism, showcased most recently on last year’s excellent album Unending Ascending.

The universe of Gong began in 1969 when Daevid Allen was inspired by a profound psychedelic vision. A founder member of Soft Machine, Allen incorporated his spiritual and metaphysical leanings into an evolving collective. More a mythology than a band in the conventional sense, Gong established itself as one of the most unique, innovative and experimental rock groups of the seventies, through an exploratory mix of rock, jazz and psychedelia with elements of mysticism and surrealism.
Over the decades, Gong has undergone numerous line-up shifts, changes, and off-shoots, yet never strayed from its mission, not even after the death of its founder in 2015. The current incarnation honours his intention that Gong do not die with him and is the most stable in Gong’s illustrious history. A dynamic, powerful and explosive live band, their music draws from the credo of the original Gong while remaining committed to pushing the composition, performances and message into new realms, paying no mind to nostalgia.
Every Gong show is a ritual, hypnotising with pulsating riffs, soaring vocal harmonies and unpredictable arrangements while moving through overwhelming peaks of sonic intensity to blissful, dreamlike passages. When they finally come to Kino Šiška, no minds will be left unblown.
