Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho, a project by a cunning theatre-maker and a versatile multi-instrumentalist, returns with a new album after a fruitful hiatus. In Šiška, the duo, backed by a full band, will present the retro-tinged FM, tackling contemporary themes with a sharp tone.

Natriletno kolobarjenje s praho (“Three-Year Crop Rotation with Fallow”) is Jure Novak and Uroš Buh. They released their first album in 2015, which means they have so far almost upheld the “fallow” standard for rest and regeneration. The term refers to a medieval agricultural concept where crops rotate through fields over three years, with one field left “fallow.” A fallow field is unsown, left to the forces of nature, deliberately set aside and intentionally neglected.

Anything can happen in the fallow field.

Buh and Novak nurture whatever sprouts.

The third time around, the field yielded an album titled FM. Frequency modulation. Fragile masculinity. Femtometer. Who knows? The field grows as it is sown.

The album was recorded in their home studio, mixed and mastered in southern Italy by Alessandro, pressed in Poland, and designed by Ivian. They are grateful for it.

Because they went a bit overboard—well, Uroš went overboard—they need a band for live gigs. And so, they put together a dream team. Joining them will be Polona Janežič on keyboards, Tibor Mihelič Syed on bass, and Vid Drašler on drums. They are grateful for them, too.

Genre-wise, FM is … retro? The sound is dominated by guitars and a hint of the ’90s, but they hope to have captured a sharp tone and contemporary themes. Novak put effort into the lyrics, and Buh layered angelic choirs.

They will be delighted to see you there.
