MENT LJUBLJANA 2019 FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT!

Peta edicija zimskega festivala glasbene kreativnosti, ki se bo odvil na različnih prizoriščih v Ljubljani med 30. januarjem in 1. februarjem 2019, napoveduje prve nastopajoče, 24 imen iz 17 držav. MENT Ljubljana, na začetku leta izbran za najboljši manjši in klubski festival v Evropi, utrjuje pridobljena naziva s slavljenjem razburljive koncertne scene iz cele Evrope.

Hammerfall set our hearts on fire once again

After a show in Serbia where they gigged the night before, Hammerfall made a stop at Ljubljana’s kino Šiška. It’s been seven years since the Swedish power metal outfit visited Slovenia.

Serbian music phenomenon Marko Louis is coming to Slovenia for the first time! The singer, born into a family of musicians, has been listening to 1960s and 1970s soul and jazz since his childhood. In his own music, he combines and enhances the sounds of his youth with infuences from his motherland, with his Balkan-tinged view of soul, R&B and pop spreading throughout the region like lightning.

After seven years, Neneh Cherry, the iconic electro pop and hip-hop artist, is returning to Ljubljana! After performing at Križanke in 2012 with cult jazz trio The Thing, Neneh will visit us with her own band for the first time. In addition to classics such as “7 Seconds”, she’ll present her brand new album Broken Politics, recorded with Kieran Hebden (Four Tet).

AND THE LAUREATS OF THE ZINE 4 VITRINE OPEN CALL ARE …

As many as 53 highly varied zines by international authors were submitted to this year’s ZINE 4 VITRINE | 4th International Zine Open Call, organised by Kino Šiška and the DobraVaga Gallery. This proves beyond a doubt that contemporary DIY culture is an important part of creativity and our everyday. The zine’s appeal lies in the possibility for anyone to understand and explore it in his or her own way. Zines therefore occupy an important position in the variety of various stories and our understanding of society.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!

Austrian trio Elektro Guzzi, who astounded us at the first MENT Ljubljana festival by playing techno live on a guitar, bass and drums, is coming back with a new album. Polybrass drastically expands and amps up the band’s sound with the help of three heavy-weight trombonists, also familiar from bands such as The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Sand and Zeitkratzer. The upcoming concert will of course feature the brass section as well.
