Kino Šiška’s 15th Anniversary: freekind.

+ Tschimy

It will get festive this fall! In September, Kino Šiška celebrates its 15th anniversary with the positive vibrations of the Croatian-Slovenian duo freekind. The girls, whose refined blend of subtle melodies and jazz-based grooves feels like a breath of fresh air in regional neo soul, are back with their latest EP.

FOR FANS OF: Noname, Little Simz, Anderson .Paak

Pianist & vocalist Sara Ester Gredelj and drummer Nina Korošak Serčič share a love for RnB, hip-hop and soul music. In June 2023, they released their first full-length album “Since Always And Forever” and sold out their show at the Komuna Hall. They then toured England with the help of our Kulturni Evro fund and played the Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul festival in Birmingham, Exit Festival in Serbia and Sziget Festival in Hungary. They have won the prestigious MME Award (Music Moves Europe) and are featured as songwriters on the album Layover by V, a member of one of South Korea’s most famous K-pop groups, BTS.

Early on in their career, they first wowed us with their streamed concert at Šiška, and three years later they have already played more than 100 shows at home and around the globe. In 2020, they made their debut with the EP “not good enough”, which opened the way to festivals such as MENT and Waves Vienna. They performed at the Ljubljana Jazz Festival, the largest European showcase festivals such as Reeperbahn and Eurosonic Noorderslag, and the Europavox Festival in France. Their songs “Visualize”, “Happiness” and “Good Vibrations” have become a staple on radio stations such as FM4, Radio Eins, FluxFM and Cosmo.

The double concert will open with the pop-soul songs of Tschimy, who returns to us after last year’s release party for his album Princ, on which he found a new pop rock guitar spark in his soulful R’n’B. With singles such as “Hera”, “Molokai” and “Dialog”, the young artist of mixed Slovenian-Gabonian heritage has already found a common language with the audience. This time around, in addition to his well-known repertoire, he will also present his new hit “Žamet”, another contemporary local singer-songwriter highlight.

Tickets are already available online and at Eventim outlets.
