The Lighting guerrilla Festival will participate in celebrating the 5th anniversary of Kino Šiška by hosting a project that presents an attempt at visualising voltage. This live sculptural installation is composed of Tesla coils each fitted with a glass pane, where audio and visual signals of variable intensities as well as a rhythmic articulation are generated through the visitor’s proximity. In the past, the Tesla coil has been employed by a wide spectrum of artists. In this application, Alexandre Burton, a member of the French collective Artificiel, proposes the use of plasma as medium itself, controlled through unique programming. The installation addresses the issue of wireless transfer of electricity, while using the latter to generate unique electric images of sublime attraction.
Artificiel is an art collective and a studio that is dedicated to producing artworks through digital technologies. Usually containing elements of sound and moving images, their works assume various forms and shapes of expression: from installation to performance, to stage-based shows or in-situ interventions. The France-based collective create complex works that avoid the anesthetisation of surfaces. They prefer to reveal structural aspects of technology or chosen materials in order to uncover the sensibility based on the objective reality of particular technological phenomena.
