Triple concert event ZVO.ČI.TI so.und.ing DUO series which will present two unique artists. Brandon LaBelle (DE) and Tao G Vrhovec will perform one solo song each, ending the concert evening with a piece created for this event.
Programme:
Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec – Tuning In, Sound installation, 2011
Installation Tuning In points towards the existance of an inaudible homogenous and ongoing musical sound that is not located in any particular place but exists in time alone. The installation puts forward a collection of recordings of a single tone “a” found on the internet, that is making audible a small stream of this ongoing global drone.
Brandon LaBelle – The sound at the back of the mouth, almost
Where does my voice reside? What sounds does it make within the space of thought? Following the voice in and outside the body, LaBelle’s presentation will aim for the inner voice as the paradoxical coupling of sound and silence. From such a perspective, the voice is imagined as a hinge bringing into contact the above and below of language.
Brandon LaBelle and Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec – Margins of listening, Performance, premiere work, 2015
In search for the invisible, the inaudible and the uncountable, Brandon LaBelle and Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec explore the relations between activities of looking at, reading and listening to a text. What kind of transitory and rhythmical space can be established through and in-between these activities? Can abstracted rhythms of enunciation carry meaning of silent words, and when does the memory fade, giving way for abstraction and transformation to occur?

Brandon LaBelle is an artist and writer living in Berlin. His work addresses the relation of the public and the private, sociality and the figure of the outcast. This results in situational projects and performances, interventions in public spaces, acts of translation and archiving. He is the editor of Errant Bodies Press and Professor at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, Norway.
About the project:
In 2015 ZVO.ČI.TI so.und.ing DUO series, which throws a spotlight on music duos, remains tightly focused on opening up contemporary music approaches and combining and connecting home and international musicians. Not unexpectedly, the fact of combining perspectives, methodologies, technologies, and aesthetics of producing new music works brings up the question of the potentials of a dialogically conditioned creativity.
ZVO.ČI.TI so.und.ing DUO series presents independent works and performances of selected authors, rounded off with a co-authored composition. In this way, we get an insight into the heterogeneous aesthetic, political, and personal approaches to music composition as well as into the possible transformations, upgrades, slips, and gaps arising in the space of liminality and overlapping – at a point where singular is replaced by dual. The form of a duo is namely not chosen by the authors themselves, but is proposed from the outside. The invitation is a starting point to be reflected upon as a field of potentiality; through dialogue, exchange, and collaborative work at a distance and live, it emerges and takes shape as a new sound work. It finds and develops new connections, inter-personal and international collaborations and networking, with Ljubljana being the connecting point of these encounters and the heart of the pulse that propels these connections.
