After warming up for Eurovision darlings Joker Out at their triumphant Stožice Arena gig, Buč Kesidi, the dance-oriented indie rock ‘n’ roll duo who are considered to be one of the key names in contemporary Serbian rock, are coming back to Ljubljana! Following sold-out stadium gigs in Zagreb and Belgrade, the lads will once again perform in the more intimate Šiška setting, with a new album on the horizon as well.
FOR FANS OF: Joker Out, Svemirko, Artan Lili …
Guitarist Luka Racić and drummer Zoran Zarubica founded Buč Kesidi in Pančevo in 2014 with the aim of shaking up the local music scene with modern rock ‘n’ roll sounds. With their debut album Posesivno-Olpulsivni Hospul, which included the hits “Kafe aparat” and “Draga?”, the musiciansfirst drew attention to themselves, then broke through to a wider audience with subsequent singles that announced their second album.
Catchy hits such as “Nema ljubavi u klubu”, “Đuskanje ne pomaže” and “TIHO” showcased Buč Kesidi’s shift towards a more contemporary, electronic sound with propulsive disco influences, and to date have accumulated several million streams online. The album Euforija, released in 2019, on which they are featured, established the band as one of the protagonists of the new Serbian alternative scene. In addition to critical acclaim, sold-out concerts across the region and performances at renowned international festivals such as Eurosonic Noorderslag, the record also earned the duo a nomination for the prestigious IMPALA Award for European Independent Album of the Year.
A few months after the release of their second album, Buč Kesidi first performed on Slovenian soil at the MENT Ljubljana festival. Following a pandemic-induced live hiatus, they returned in style with a performance for a 10,000-strong crowd on the main stage of the Exit festival, sold out the Šalata Stadium in Zagreb, and became the first rock band of the younger generation to pack the biggest stadium in Belgrade, Tašmajdan. In Zagreb, their support act was Joker Out, who returned the favour when they conquered the Stožice Arena in Ljubljana, but when Buč Kesidi return to Šiška in February, they’ll once again do so as headliners.
The energetic guitar trio Keni Nije Mrtav from Serbia has established itself as one of the most attractive live acts in our region thanks to their first-class grooves, galloping riffs and unique stage presence. With their combination of punk attitude, radio-friendly pop tunes and a spectrum of sincere emotions and energy, they’ve made their way to the Serbian selection for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, among other things, and their live disco parties have impressed audiences all over the Balkans, reaffirming them as one of the hottest young bands right now.
