Furtivo is an invitation to think about spaces. That places and objects are not treated merely as inert elements in social dynamics, but as social constructions that actively produce, reproduce and dialectically transform our experiences. Space as an element of social and symbolic construction. Spatial arrangement and the way we connect with space and with each other in it.
Furtivo invites us to think about the physical space we live in not as finished and unchanging, but as a possibility for the joint creation of public and private spaces and the re-appropriation of existing ones.
The work specifically focuses on those alternative spaces that have been created collectively and emphasizes how necessary they are as a tool for building communities, encounters and exchanges, and strengthening social ties. It also points out how the loss of these spaces and the culture that surrounds them pushes us more and more towards individuality. With the featured photographs, it celebrates such spaces with a touch of melancholy for those who are gone, and invites us to make those who remain visible, to care for them together, to expand them and to stand up for them in today’s times.
