With a sense of preemptive nostalgia, director Simona Jerala spends eleven years filming her father Milan, striving to capture his wisdom, their mutual humour, and to document one of life’s most precious friendships before it fades away.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with Veronika Zakonjšek, film critic and representative of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Slovenia, and Simona Jerala, documentary film director and film critic.

Synopsis
A precious friendship between an elderly father (95) and his daughter (the film director) is gradually coming to an end. Though it may not be immediately apparent, both are grappling with the transience of time. The father is determined to finish a book, repair the old fence, and maintain his vitality, while the daughter wants to halt the passage of time and her father’s aging.
Statement by the director
“The essential emotion that drove the creation of this film was the fear of loss. This emotion was impossible to capture on camera because it is too invisible and, at the same time, all-encompassing. However, I hope that sensitive viewers will still be able to sense this emotion lingering in the air while watching the film.”
