CULT OF LUNA

+ A.A. Williams + Brutus

Swedish sludge atmospherics Cult of Luna are returning to Ljubljana! The band is coming back for the first time since the release of their acclaimed album Mariner, with the thundering sound of both old and new material providing an excellent counterpoint to the festive season.

The six-piece band, rooted in hardcore (no surprise, considering they come from the same town as Refused) drew attention to itself with the albums Salvation and The Beyond, today regarded as “compulsory post-metal literature”. During their 20 years of existence, they’ve released eight albums and their live shows have established them as one of the best concert experiences out there.

In 2016, they collaborated with Julie Christmas (Battle of Mice, Made Out of Babies) on the album Mariner, their latest studio release. Cult of Luna have been teasing their fans with studio session photos for some time now, with talk of a new album, to be released towards the end of the year via Metal Blade Records, growing stronger every day.

Ahead of Cult of Luna, their fan, death-gospel musician A.A. Williams, will take to our stage. She had devoted her youth to classical music before discovering Spineshank, Amenra and Cult of Luna – there was simply no going back. Her demo recordings immediately got the attention of Holy Roar Records, and everyone is eagerly awaiting her breakthrough to the forefront following her April performance at the renowned Roadburn festival in The Netherlands. Don’t miss out on this rising star!

Belgian trio Brutus will also join the Ljubljana tour stop. Their unique sound intertwines post-rock construction, metal dynamics, hardcore energy and clean pop melodies, and they’ve toured with acts such as Russian Circles, Thrice and Chelsea Wolfe. In March, the famed Sargent House Records released their second album Nest, with media such as Stereogum and Invisible Oranges already singing its praises.
