New songs, a new band – and a new concert! Edo Maajka, the regional rap statesman and sharp-tongued entertainer whose recognisable style has borne witness to the harsh realities of life in the Balkans for the past quarter of a century, is returning to Šiška. He will be accompanied by a live band of world-class musicians, with the setlist spiced up by songs from his upcoming new record.
Since the very beginning of his solo career at the turn of the millennium, Edo Maajka has written one of the most successful music stories in the Balkans as a whole, not just in his home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His merciless rhymes and instrumentals that range from easy-going funk boppers to full-on bass bangers have won over both radio editors and hardened hip hoppers. He always receives a warm welcome in Ljubljana as well, whether performing in our main hall or on downtown streets.
Edo Maajka’s sixth studio album is due to be released this year, with a few never-before-heard songs to be featured during his April gig at Kino Šiška, alongside classics such as ‘No Sikiriki’ and ‘Prikaze’. Onstage, he will be joined by a carefully selected ensemble of virtuoso musicians: Mario Rašić, one of the best Croatian bassists; Yogi Lonich, an acclaimed guitarist who has played with Chris Cornell, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox, among others; Toni Starešinić, the frontman of Chui and Mangroove; and Mirsad Dalipi, one of the best drummers in the region. Funk grooves, hard-hitting beats and lyrical mastery – party guaranteed!
Organisation: Kino Šiška.
