On Thursday 12 June, Kongresni trg will host French artist Christelle Gualdi aka Stellar OM Source in her first Slovenian performance. Having studied music theory, she transformed into one of the most interesting and adventurous producers of contemporary dance and experimental techno and house music. Her notorious techno album Joy One Mile released on the New York based label Rvng Intl. in collaboration with the German wunderkind Kassem Mosse was made as a reflection on her explorations of the pioneer Detroit electronic music through contemporary synthetic currents, and was pronounced album of the year 2013 by the influential online music portal Juno. Enriching machine funk with her purebred live performances, Stellar OM Source has been a regular at major independent music festivals.
The same night, Kongresni trg will be electrified by domestic pioneers of techno and contemporary electronic music: Random Logic. Gradually retreating from dance floors, Gregor Zemljič and Miha Klemenčič were awarded the Radio France International award for best international electronic music album for their LP Numrebs back in 2001. Following their long-awaited return, their award-winning live act has now been upgraded to offer a fresh and refined audio-visual narrative, thus merging their twenty-years career of submerging into hypnotic minimalist techno loops.
The final act of the night are three old stagers from the underground clubbing scene of Ljubljana, acid boy band Niplodok, whose pristine jam sessions based on analogue synthesizers grinding various minimalist passages explore the resonance of the post-industrial world, which ranks them among the most intriguing bands of the local electronic scene. The event will be rounded up by the Izland visual collective from the region of Primorska, known for working with the duo Silence, their live blending of liquids reflecting music in eternally changing dreamscapes.
