Empire of the Sun, the chart-topping electropop champions from Down Under, will have us walking on a dream as they perform in Slovenia for the first time ever. Fresh off the release of their new album, they’ll be taking to the stage at the stunning Križanke open-air theatre in August.
Renowned for their eclectic blend of electropop, synth-pop, and dance-rock, merging dreamy synth landscapes with infectious pop hooks and surreal lyrical themes, the Australian duo Empire of the Sun achieved international acclaim with their debut album Walking on a Dream, which became a critical and commercial success. The album’s title track, “Walking on a Dream,” became an inescapable global hit, while another single from the album, “We Are the People,” further solidified their place in the electronic pop scene at the time.
Following their successful debut, Empire of the Sun continued to push creative boundaries with their successive releases, expanding on their signature sound and collaborating with renowned musicians such as Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac.
After an extended hiatus, Empire of the Sun reconnected with younger generations thanks to their songs finding viral success on social media. The band made a triumphant return in 2024 with their fourth studio album Ask That God, showcasing a fresh yet familiar sound that embraces their roots while exploring new sonic landscapes. The album has been praised for its lush production and thematic depth, marking a celebrated comeback for the duo.
Empire of the Sun’s influence extends far beyond their discography, however. They’ve inspired countless artists in the electronic and pop genres with their innovative soundscapes and bold visual aesthetics. Their live performances are a spectacle of art and music, featuring elaborate costumes, avant-garde stage designs, and immersive visual effects, making them a must-see act worldwide.
