Enej Gala is the first to be featured as part of the curatorial series of exhibitions, this year titled They. The series focuses on artistic practices dedicated to the figure, which, in various depictions, acts as the bearer of everything human and transcendent.
The exhibition Through the Needle’s Eye combines research practices into a spatial installation and a documentary on the stigmatization of inexplicable or indescribable phenomena that accompany us through history, folklore and everyday perception of modernity. The project is based on the puppet and art workshops held last summer in Nova Gorica in cooperation with the Retirement Home, the Center for Training, Work and Care and the -TNK- collective.
Enej Gala (1990) lives and works in London, Venice and Nova Gorica. He received his BA and MA in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. During his studies, he also attended the Willem De Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. He is currently part of the Royal Academy Schools Postgraduate Programme 2019–2023 in London. His practice expands narration by questioning traditional perspectives on painting, performative sculpture, puppetry and video, exploring different forms of production also through frequent collaborations.
