Following the successful presentation of their work in progress at this year’s Platform of Contemporary Dance in Maribor, authors and performers Anja Bornšek, Barbara Kanc and Tina Valentan present the fragile choreography/movement performance Eyes that Flitter on Kino Šiška’s main stage.
The usual – what it’s about
The performance revolves around poetic images, in which the viewer can strengthen their personal imagination, emotions and affect. Contrary to the commanding images that dominate in our living space and make us weak and more dependent on authority, images that arise and sink, aware of the fragility of individual integrity and autonomy, are at the forefront. (adapted from Juhani Pallasmaa)
In Eyes that Flitter, the authors take the time to understand spatiality, corporeality and sonority in the spaces for which they create, or rather, the spaces that shape them.
The performance is the first part of the process research by the authors, in an as of yet undetermined series of -ologies.
On time, temporality, cyclicity
On “settling” into the performance space
On patience
On the fragility of a moment, which can either fall apart or result in something growing from it
On the nature of theatre
Wild, mythological
Airy
Fifth element.
Love.
Are you standing, sitting, lying, leaning onto something?
The text in the video inspired by the excerpts from the Maori poetry about the creation of the world, found in the book by Joseph Campbell: The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
