Fanfare Ciocărlia, considered to be one of the most important brass bands in the world, is coming to Ljubljana for a night of exuberant, fast-paced music that’s been adopted by the likes of NPR, The Guardian and Borat!
FOR FANS OF: Druga Godba, Youngblood Brass Band, Guča …
One of the unlikely stories that only music can write, Fanfare Ciocărlia, a brass band from a remote Romanian village, has been conquering the world for more than 25 years with their unique blend of traditional Eastern European music, jazz, pop, and rock. With mad precision and breakneck tempos, they’ll take you on a wild ride through their extensive repertoire of cult favourites, ranging from punk to classical.
Hailing from Zece Prăjini, a small village in northeastern Romania near the Moldavian border, Fanfare Ciocărlia’s music is deeply rooted in the region’s rich cultural heritage. Their performances are a joyful celebration of life, filled with deep pressure blasts from tubas and tenor horns, intermingled with wild cacophonies of trumpets and saxophones. This is a band that wants to put smiles on people’s faces and make them dance until the wee hours of the morning. Their infectious energy has taken them to the celebrated NPR Tiny Desk Concert series, won them praise from the likes of The Guardian and Songlines Music Awards, and landed them a spot on the soundtrack of the hit film Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
Those who caught their show at Okarina Festival in 2018 will tell you that seeing Fanfare Ciocărlia live is a unique and unmissable experience. As they continue their journey to conquer the world with their irresistible sound, their concert at Kino Šiška promises to be an unforgettable night filled with energy, passion, and the sheer joy of music.
