At their fourth visit to Šiška, the excellent Macedonian ethno-jazz-pop-rock ensemble Foltin will present their latest album Momoma, their most mature release so far. The band is known all over Europe, including festivals such as Druga Godba, Jazz Cerkno, Sziget and Exit, for its theatrical, cabaret-style live shows, as well as numerous soundtrack for films, theatre shows and TV series.
Foltin is one of the most important Macedonian bands, and has existed since 1995. Their music is hard to define, sounds unpredictable and challenging: surreal, passionate and witty, dynamic and full of surprises, blending many different music genres: electroacoustic, alternative rock, funk, ambient etc. Even though they use standard musical elements, their approach in creating the atmosphere is unpredictable and above all original.
The band’s 2019 album Momoma is their most mature work yet – slightly jazzed, endlessly loving and different from what came before, but still undoubtedly Foltin. One can hear a little Tom Waits in a jazzy romantic way or David Bowie with his recognizable smile. With mercilessly gentle yet strong lyrics, Momoma is the moment you wish to last forever.
