Our stream will be joined by the young duo of pianist and vocalist Sara Ester Gredelj and drummer Nina Korošak Serčič. Through their groove, rooted in contemporary soul, R&B and jazz along the lines of Common, Erykah Badu and Alfa Mist, they present their approach to life, offering outstanding comfort in lockdown times with their first EP.
Sara Ester Gredelj and Nina Korošak Serčič met while studying at the jazz academy in Graz, quickly realising they appreciate the same things in music and want to pass them on to others – their free-minded philosophy is clearly evident from the name they’ve chosen for their duo. Faced with a deadline, freekind. made their first song “I’m Gonna Live” together, with the unexpected response confirming they’re on the right path. In summer 2019, they had their first concert at Lent Festival in Slovenia.
In 2020, their regular music missives offered comfort during lockdown, and they rounded off the first phase of their career in December with the Not Good Enough EP, playing it live on national radio. The misleadingly titled release follows contemporary soul, R&B and jazz guidelines as set by Common, d’Angelo, Noname and others, infusing them with youthful freshness, and we can’t wait to have freekind. brighten up our stream as well.
