The project “WRINKLE” (GUBA) is the third part of the trilogy comprised of “Carry On” (2021), “Origami” (2023) and “WRINKLE” (2024). The connecting element of the three performances is the material of paper, which is used as the material of the floor on which we stand, a canvas providing us with the context of the performance, and sculptural material, which co-shapes the space and guides the dynamics of movement and modelling.
If in “Carry On” the focus was on the body in relation to objects (paper was one of them), and in “Origami” the relation of all materials (movement/body, paper, cardboard, music/silence, light/shadow) to space, “WRINKLE” focuses on the relation to time – duration and persistence – and the associated movement.
This time, through the more detailed treatment of a wrinkle, which offers, produces and expands the process of creation and performance, we delve into dynamics, patterns, meanings and relations, especially towards the body.
In our culture, body wrinkles are, generally speaking, a condition that we try to eliminate, smoothen, tighten, straighten. Artistically and figuratively, wrinkles and their plasticity, shape and encroachment into space are something that attracts us, that involves us – in the visual, sensorial and physical sense.
