Ways of Seeing – Workshop
The title of this workshop is derived from a book which was edited by Guy Cools and to which also Mala Kline contributed: The Ethics of Art, on ecological turns in the performing arts.
In the workshop, they will approach this large theme through practical and physical exercises based on their own artistic research and practices. They will explore different ways of seeing and listening to the images that are alive in our dreams and in our body-memories; how these images resonate with the actual, physical environments we are part of and how we can articulate and create with these images through the body-being-present with improvisation being ‘the way we work’ (Tim Ingold).
The underlying ethical dimension of these practices arises from the way the singular body dialogues with the environment and how this dialogue has the potential to transform both.
The workshop will also offer space and time to the participants to reflect upon and share their own questions and concerns related to the ethics of art.
The workshop is open to participants of diverse backgrounds and experiences with an interest in the body as the main interface for any creative practice.
