After two powerful drone sessions in 2017 and 2020, hackedepicciotto, the creative partnership of Einstürzende Neubauten bassist Alexander Hacke and co-founder of the legendary Berlin Love Parade Danielle de Picciotto, returns to Šiška. They will present their new album The Silver Threshold, released by the renowned label Mute, on which they face the uncertainties of the world in which we find ourselves.
The artistic collaboration of Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto is already well known in Šiška. We listened to them warm up for Twin Peaks siren Julee Cruise, as part of The Ministry of Wolves, and during the duo’s solo performances of the desert drones of Perseverantia in 2017 and the prophetic apocalyptic energy of The Current in February 2020.
Their current release The Silver Threshold represents the logical continuation of their work in present times. Despite the beauty and tenderness running throughout the album, it also mirrors the uncertainty of the world. The record charges with pulsing electronics, ominous, churning riffs and a tone that captures fear and anger as much as it does beauty and wonder. Amidst the pandemic, the artists noticed that the most important thing that people missed was love or friendship. As a couple in perfect symbiosis with each other, hackedepiccioto, as so many times before, intuitively poured their experience of the world into another joint, grandiose artistic expression – and a top-notch release, their first for Mute.
