IDLES

British Craft Beer Festival opening concert

A festival of proper British craft beers deserves a jolt of proper British rock – and we’d be hard-pressed to find a more suitable band than the currently most exciting British post-punks, IDLES! The wild Bristol five-piece already claimed their spot on the best-of lists of 2017 with their excellent debut album Brutalism, and will prove there’s a reason they’re one of the hottest bands today in Šiška in September. For fans of Sleaford Mods and Slaves!

“IDLES are one of the most exciting British bands right now and Brutalism is proof.”The Line of Best Fit, 9/10

[Brutalism] is one of the more clever and articulate rock records you will hear this year.”PopMatters, 8/10

“[Brutalism] is loaded with some of the most fiery performances and brutally honest lyrics I’ve heard in years.”Anthony Fantano, The Needle Drop, 8/10

“One of the 20 must-hear albums of 2017 so far […] an album which has reinvented a dark corner of indie rock.”BBC Radio 6

Yes, the hype is real, as anyone who has witnessed the blood-covered, sweat-drenched guitar madness that is IDLES at one of this year’s festivals, for example Pohoda, Rock for People, Roskilde or Reading, can attest to. The five-piece fuels its raw post-punk with the same dissatisfaction and disappointment over the current socio-political climate that has already given us Sleaford Mods, Fat White Family, Shame, Bad Breeding and Savages, with the bountiful British post-punk heritage and with cynical humour, expressing it in its own unique and above all wild manner.

It’s already clear that IDLES are one of the bands you simply have to see live, and where better than at the opening of the three-day British Craft Beer Festival? There’ll be beer, there’ll be music – what else do you need?!

The concert is part of the British Craft Beer Festival and is supported by the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Slovenia.

Organisation: the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Slovenia and Kino Šiška.
