After the delightful jazz night he treated us to at the release of his album Eleven in 2018, the renowned Slovenian saxophonist and composer Igor Lumpert is returning to Šiška. With a refreshed Innertextures line-up of top musicians, he will present his latest album, I Am the Spirit of the Earth, released on the Clean Feed label.

The fifth album under the command of Igor Lumpert, his third for Clean Feed, develops the musician’s deliberate, yet intuitive approach to jazz. It was recorded in pandemic conditions, which required confidence from the participants that four horns at the same time in one room was the right way. The powerful resulting music proved without a doubt that it was. In Šiška, Lumpert on the saxophone will be accompanied by saxophonist Greg Ward, who has worked with varied artists such as Prefuse 73, Lupe Fiasco, Tortoise, William Parker, Andrew D’Angelo and Mike Reed, Japanese double bass player Masa Kamaguchi (George Garzone, Bert Sieger, Hal Crook, Herb Pomeroy, Frank Carber …), and Kenny Grohowski, who has worked with John Zorn, Stanley Clarke, Lonnie Plaxico and Emeline Michel.
After concluding studies in Linz, during which he was a member of the award-winning German ensemble Sidewinders, Igor Lumpert continued his education in New York at the invitation of one of the best double bass players in the world, Reggie Workman. During more than twenty fruitful years, he became renowned not just in New York or Slovenia, but also globally.
