One of Poland’s most exciting new ensembles in recent times is returning following their memorable performance at MENT Ljubljana 2021 for another evening of brilliant jazz, hip-hop, and electronic fusion in the manner of jazz dogma-busting acts such as Badbadnotgood.
FOR FANS OF: Badbadnotgood, Moon Hooch, GoGo Penguin …
Immortal Onion is an instrumental band hailing from Gdańsk, renowned for its innovative approach to musical expression. Formed by Wojtek Warmijak on drums, Tomir Śpiołek on piano and synths, and Ziemowit Klimek on double bass and synths, and recently complemented by Michał Jan Ciesielski on saxophone, the band has made a significant impact as one of the most intriguing new jazz projects emerging from Poland. Their music, which encompasses a diverse range of styles including bold jazz, cinematic soundscapes, precise minimalism, creative fusion, thumping electronic music, and even confident progressive metal, showcases their adventurous feeling for experimentation.
The skilful combination of rhythmically complex, energetic riffs, stripped-down beats, and lyrical themes has created a recognisable language unique to the band and featured on multiple well-received releases, which have garnered praise from the media and likes of Hania Rani. Meanwhile, the band’s outstanding live shows serve to further enhance the experience of their music.
Coastal trio Spiral Mind masterfully weaves together disparate genres in their instrumental compositions, from prog rock and jazz to electronica. While constructing their dynamic musical worlds through the interplay of guitars, synths, bass and drums, the band doesn’t forget to set fire to the dance floor. The band’s discography includes a couple of EPs and a couple of full-fledged records, the last of which was release by KAPA Records in 2022, and they’ve forged a mean live reputation at, among other things, renowned international festivals such as MENT Ljubljana, Druga Godba and Waves Vienna.
