Veteran rocker Jon Spencer is returning to Šiška! The legendary cool cat of the New York underground, well-known from bands such as The Blues Explosion, Pussy Galore, Boss Hog and more, will present his first solo album with his new backing band. According to Clash Music, the record features some of the best songs and most catchy guitar tunes of his lengthy career.
A rocknrolla through and through, the wild man of the New York garage scene, guitar-wielding cool-cat-in-chief – yep, Jon Spencer is returning to absolve us in a wave of dirty riffs, wild vocals and groovy-as-fuck rhythms. He’ll present a one-of-a-kind milestone in his career, his first solo album Spencer Sings the Hits!, on which he throws a Molotov cocktail of garage punk at classic rock ‘n’ roll songs. The cult figure will be accompanied onstage by Sam Coomes (Quasi), MSord and Bob Bert (Pussy Galore, Sonic Youth), and the setlist will of course also include hits by Blues Explosion, Heavy Trash, Pussy Galore and others.
The rock bash will be opened by French trio Slift, who’ve apparently dosed their glasses with a hefty measure of psychedelics. The band’s September debut La Planète Inexplorée is namely a first-class shot of Can’s trippiness, MC5’s rock urgency and Kyuss’ stoner desert, brewed up during late-night jams and doused with a love for unrestrained sci-fi madness. The distorted devastation and manic thrashing will melt your mind, but you know what they say – we supposedly only use around ten percent of our brain, so hurry up and get your ticket, who needs the other 90 percent!
