After performing at the first MENT Ljubljana festival, JoyCut, one of the most far-reaching music exports of Slovenia’s western neighbour, is returning to our city with the new album and audio-visual project Komorebi, premiered one day before at the Venice Biennale. In recent years, the trio, which sounds like a future in which robots and people share organic meals and feelings of hope, according to MTV, performed at referential festivals around the globe, including SXSW, sharing the stage with Arcade Fire, Editors, Art Brut, Modest Mouse and others. We’ll warm up by dancing to A/V impro-electronic threepiece NeoPogo.
Under the hashtag #JoyCutNeverStops, Bologna band JoyCut has checked off a more than respectable number of performances all over the world, from the USA to China and Japan, but it was the latter that captivated it more than any other. With its conflict between a lovely feeling of belonging and pure extraneousness, Japan inspired the guys’ new album Komorebi, a musical tribute, an emotional dive into the abyss, harmony and loss, all at once.
Two drummers face to face, and a conductor and helmsman of electronic sparks across dark post-rock expanses between them – that’s JoyCut. The opportunity to sink into their sharp, yet massive electronic music is at hand!
NeoPogo spontaneously and fluidly adapt their melodic IDM to the space and time they find themselves in, meaning their first visit to Šiška will be a truly unique experience. Live, the trio enhances the experience with illustrated visuals, taking the ambient cruise into a tripped out trance.
Organisation: Kino Šiška.
